WP3 (JRA1) (Diego Scardaci)
Milestones & Deliverables
Task JRA1.1 Authentication and Authorisation Infrastructure
Task JRA1.2 Service Registry and Marketplace
Task JRA1.3 Accounting
Task JRA1.4 Operations Tools
Task JRA1.5 Resource Allocation – e-GRANT
WP4 (JRA2) (Matthew Viljoen)
Review preparation
Spanish overspend on T4.2 due to higher cost of contracts and more time for new staff to become productive. Possibly also a wrong accounting of work done within LifeWatch CC (to be confirmed, awaiting for response from Jesus and Isobel)
PY2 overspend from Cyfronet and CESNET catching up on PY1 underspend. For Cyfronet additional work was done setting up/maintaining the EGI DataHub that wasn't in the DoA.
Milestones & Deliverables
Task JRA2.1 Federated Open Data
OneData rc14 (not rc12) finally released last week. Once setup instructions have been independently validated we will be inviting data providers to join the federation.
Task JRA2.2 Federated Cloud
Task JRA2.3 e-Infrastructures Integration
Task JRA2.4 Accelerated Computing
WP5 (SA1) (Peter Solagna)
Review preparation
Effort consumption does not have big deviations. Small deviations have been discussed with the partners in order to ensure that it will be aligned with the expectations by the end of the project.
Small correction in the reporting for STFC between SA1.2 and JRA1.1 (1.5PM more reported in JRA1.1).
Milestones & Deliverables
Task SA1.1 Operations Coordination
Task SA1.2 Development of Security Operations
Task SA1.3 Integration, Deployment of Grid and Cloud Platforms
WP6 (SA2) (Gergely Sipos)
Milestones & Deliverables
Task SA2.1 Training
Task SA2.2 Technical User Support
- Tests of Hadoop as a Service on OpenStack sites (OpenStack Sahara)
- Tests of Jupyter as a Service on the infrastructure
- Support to Phenomenal project on using Terraform on the infrastructure
- Evaluation of CMS and WeNMR use cases for integration into Federated Cloud
Task SA2.3 ELIXIR
Task SA2.4 BBMRI
Task SA2.5 MoBrain
With all tasks completed, the activities in MoBrain are focussed on dissemination activities. Recent meetings at which MoBrain/EGI-related services have been presented are:
- Image Processing in cryoEM: Quality checks. NECEN Cryo-EM School, Leiden, Netherlands, January 22 – 27, 2017
- High-resolution, integrative modelling of biomolecular complexes from fuzzy data. Cryo-EM workshop at the International Symposium on Grid and Cloud Computing, Tapei, Taiwan, March 6-8, 2017.
- The DisVis and PowerFit web servers: Explorative and Integrative Modeling of Biomolecular Complexes harvesting EGI GPGPU resources. International Symposium on Grid and Cloud Computing, Tapei, Taiwan, March 6-10, 2017.
- EGI federated platforms supporting accelerated computing. International Symposium on Grid and Cloud Computing, Taipei, Taiwan, March 6-10, 2017.
- Molecular dynamics in the clouds. International Symposium on Grid and Cloud Computing, Taipei, Taiwan, March 6-10, 2017.
- Image Processing in cryoEM: Its peculiar needs and challenges. Cryo-EM workshop at the International Symposium on Grid and Cloud Computing, Tapei, Taiwan, March 6-8, 2017
- Image processing in cryoEM: Validation. University of Vienna. March 16, 2017

- High-resolution, integrative modelling of biomolecular complexes from fuzzy data. ELIXIR workshop on “Computational Approaches to the Study of Protein Interaction and Drug Design”, Padova, Italy, April 10-14, 2017
Task SA2.6 DARIAH
- Preparing poster for the DARIAH Annual event in Berlin
- Prepared two abstracts for posters ('DARIAH CC' and 'DH services') for EGI Conference and Indigo Summit 2017, Catania (to be submitted by the end of the week)
- Investigating with end-users the possibility on including a new data set into DARIAH CC data repository (preparatory actions)
Task SA2.7 LifeWatch
Support to GBIF.es new components in FedCloud resources
Continued support to VRE and to Natusfera in FedCloud resources
Task SA2.8 EISCAT_3D
Victor Mendez left UAB, and Andrei Tsaregorodtsev of CPPM will do the debugging of the Dirac portal. This means that there will not be much development for the rest of the project. The RT system is used to raise these debug requests and that works well.
CSC is investigating how to add a more heavy EISCAT processing using a c-library doing lagprofiling of the L1 data into L2. This can possibly be done in a docker, but also a regular batch routine with provided parameters.
Umea and EISCAT have met to finalise the EISCAT_3D data model, now that the first radar parts are becoming ready. A couple of dedicated f2f meetings are planned in May together with EISCAT_3D engineers to work out a database friendly data structure.
Task SA2.9 EPOS
Task SA2.10 Disaster Mitigation
