Lots of <defunct> processes from globus-gma
Full message
On an LCG-CE one may sometimes observe many "defunct" child processes created by globus-gma.
Diagnosis
First ensure the version of globus-gma is the latest: 1.0.13.
It is normal to have some defunct processes during the poll cycle when polls time out, e.g. due to a high load on the batch system. All of them will be cleared by globus-gma at the end of the poll cycle. When many such processes are seen often, the batch system configuration may need to be improved. Also the globus-gma configuration can be tuned as described on the LCG-CE service reference card: https://twiki.cern.ch/twiki/bin/view/EGEE/LcgCE
