2. ACTIVITY REPORT
2.1. Progress Summary
NGI_DE keeps smoothly operating Grid services in the region. The service availability and reliability achieved both 100%. Hardware capacities (storage & CPU) was kept increasing, specially the tap capacity was significantly enlarged. The ROD shift ran well. Software was updated to the latest version.
2.2. Main Achievements
The following are concrete achievements of the NGI-DE sites:
- In DESY-HH more cpu and storage is now available for the grid (almost 8.000 cores and 6.3PB sotrage). The site achived a smooth running of Grid with 100% in usage of the resources.
- RWTH Aachen performed migration from gLite 3.2 to EMI 2.
- Uni-Wuppertal upgraded all services and WNs to EMI-2.
- TUDresden-ZIH updated its gLite services to UMD2.
- FZJ contributed to NGI DE the General Operations Policy. This site decommissioned the JUGGLE compute resource during the report period but plans to add it again
- LRZ extended EGI resource certification procedures and performed further development of Globus adaptors for GridSAFE and BDII.
- KIT is updating the NGI-DE Nagios Instance to release 19.
- SCAI decommissioned gladys.scai.fraunhofer.de (in favor of new glite-cream.scai.fraunhofer.de).
2.3. Issues and mitigation

DESY-HH reported: Migration from glite to EMI was not properly prepared from the EMI side (at the end we did migration fast and in time, but we started to exercise long time before the migration). EMI release which can be used came too late. | We asked also for the tarball distribution for the UI and to our knowledge no one is working on this, so we have no possibility to switch UI from glite to EMI/UMD. |
