Short Description
BILS (Bioinformatics Infrastructure for Life Sciences) is a distributed national research infrastructure supported by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) providing bioinformatics support to life science researchers in Sweden. BILS is also the Swedish node in the European infrastructure for biological information ELIXIR.
BILS would like to evaluate the EGI Federated Cloud since they prefer to use a cloud infrastructure instead to buy proprietary resources. BILS is willing to rewrite its current services to scale up compute in EGI Federated cloud and so exploiting the Cloud Elasticity.
BILS offer to its users a Genome Annotation service (NGS). Users come to BILS with the data and a team of BILS expert constructs maps of a genome in behalf of users. BILS currently use a small dedicated cluster to run the genome annotation pipeline. BILS also a Genome browser for its users.
Use Case
Install a genome browser in the EGI Federated Cloud.
