Jump to navigation Jump to search

Main page with instructions. In this page, you can provide your assessments for the EGI Global Tasks (MS115) and your self-assessment for the NGI International Tasks (MS116).

Notes:

  • Both milestones are an assessment of services from a managerial perspective'and should be reported as an evaluation of the services -do 'not report what your NGI did for those tasks/services as this is covered by the Quarterly Reports.
  • MS115: External assessments of NA2.2 EGI Dissemination and Marketing as a global task.
  • MS116: Self-assessment of NGI International Tasks, required for tasks where your NGI has effort. (The operations part is covered through a survey linked at the bottom of this page).

The content will be used for the following documents:

a probably too passive approach has been taken during P1Y; user communities were informed and invited to try the infrastructure but little has been done in understanding their requirements and their modus operandis. As a result, only few user groups that already have been involded in similar projects, could really profit from the infrastructure. 2 The most effective way of reaching out user communities is to get involved in their field of activities; estblish direct contact and collaborate in enabling/porting their usecases. Active participating in scientific communities key dissemination events (workshops, conferences) would also increase visibility of the project.

NA2.2N Dissemination NGI-CH focused on reaching out communities for the national infrastructure where a fine grained control of the resources as well as of the funding mechanism allow us to evaluate the capacity that can be offered to the various communities. 3 For Iterate this effort at the international level, we need to clarify the resource allocation mechanism as well as the repartition of costs.

NA3.3N Requirements Gathering Requirements have been gathered for already quite few years in similar projects (see EGEE). It's still unclear what logic is used when filtering these requirements for the implementation roadmap. 2 Furhter clarify the requirements evaluation process.
NA3.3N Application Database Quite some effort has been invested at the EGI level as well at several NGI level for setting up and maintain these sort of information repository. Not clear whether and how these information are effectively used and what real benefit are bringing to user groups and/or support units. 3 Not clear whether such a tool would be really needed.
NA3.3N Training Marketplace your assessment here 0-5 how to improve
NA3.3N Consultancy Consulting is done on an everyday basis; direct contact with user groups through all possible media (mail, skype, phone, in-person). The process implies an understansing of what a given user is trying to achieve, what he/she is curently using and what are his/her projection in terms of scaling. Several time, end-to-end solutions are implemented to spare users from low level details of the overall infrastructure. 4 This effort and model should be further expanded.
