  • The topics covered in the workshop were: 1- Integration of applications in distributed infrastructures. This topic focuses on success stories from applications in distributed infrastructures and an analysis of tools for improving the efficient usage of infrastructures (e.g. Job management, scientific gateways, workflow enactment, etc.) both standard or developed by the teams that use them. 2- Presentation of the user Access portal and technologies (such as the access to Grid resources from the web interface) 3- Description of needs and evaluation of the current access mechanism. 4- Round table and debate: Do users need Cloud-like distributed computing models? The virtualization of services inside the resource centres is a very useful technique for system administrators. The purpose of this round table is to survey the opinions of users about the possibility of offering resources in the form of Infrastructures as a Services (such as Amazon EC2).

2. ACTIVITY REPORT

2.1. Progress Summary

  • Introduction of a montly review / discussion regarding open security issues (as reported by the security dashboard). Collect site feedback regarding those issues.
  • Discussion of the monthly performance for IBERGRID sites and IBERGRID core services.
  • Deployment and operation of a TopBDII HA mechanism. Enforcement of the TopBDII HA mechanism at local sites.
  • Glue 2.0 enforcement. All sites were checked regarding the GLUE 2.0 information publishing at the site bdii level. 10 GGUS ticket were open and currently 5 remain to be solved.
  • Review and discuss the changes in GOCDB for the registration of NGI services in order to produce NGI Availability/Reliability statistics
  • Review and discuss GOCDB roles restructuring proposal
  • Review the resource Centre Decommissioning Procedure
  • Collect and submit requirements to EMI 3.0
  • Complete the EGI Global Services survey and NGI International Services survey
  • Broadcast SA1 directives and surveys aimed for sites (SLURM support for CREAM)
  • Report on OMB meetings and receive feedback.


2.2. Main Achievements

  • Introduction of a montly review / discussion regarding open security issues (as reported by the security dashboard). Collect site feedback regarding those issues.
  • Enforcement of the TopBDII HA mechanism at local sites.
  • 100% A/R in Dec 2011 for the TopBDII service (after the implementation of the TopBDII HA mechanism).
  • No sites bellow the A/R threshold in Dec 2012


2.3. Issues and mitigation

GGUS ticket asking for recomputation of A/R for Ibergrid sites: https://ggus.eu/ws/ticket_info.php?ticket=77695.
 Recomputation already processed and ticket is closed and verified.
  • Failure in the TopBDII HA mechanism between implemented between LIP and CESGA: start time: 01/19/2012 22:00 PM CET; end time: 01/20/2012 10:00 AM CET. GGUS ticket asking for recomputation of A/R for Ibergrid sites: https://ggus.eu/ws/ticket_info.php?ticket=78443
Supported as provided a workarund, and a new requirement has been set.
