Roles

  1. Technologist: a person who develop technologies to innovate EGI
  2. Researcher: a person who perform digital research using ICT infrastructures such as EGI
  3. Data curator: a person from EGI who will receive notifications for each new publication associated to EGI and can verify/curate it (we can find another name for this role)
  4. Viewer: a user of the portal with no login access

Stories

  1. Researcher/Technologist: I want to login into the OpenAIRE portal using my EGI credential
it can rely on federated identity, e.g. SAML (see this initiative https://refeds.org/)
  2. Researcher/Technologist: when logged in the OpenAIRE portal, I want to upload metadata related to my publication
  3. Researcher: when logged in the OpenAIRE portal, I want to claim that the work of my publication used EGI
  4. Researcher: when logged in the OpenAIRE portal, I want to claim that the work of my publication is associated to a certain Virtual Organisation
  5. Researcher: when logged in the OpenAIRE portal, I want to claim that the work of my publication is associated to a certain EGI scientific discipline
  6. Technologist: when logged in the OpenAIRE portal, I want to claim that the work of my publication supported EGI
  7. Data curator: I want to receive a notification for each new publication associated to EGI so that I can verify and curate it
  8. Viewer: I want to list all the publications associated to EGI
  9. Viewer: I want to list all the publications associated to a certain virtual organisation
  10. Viewer: I want to list all the publications associated to a certain EGI scientific discipline
EGI is finalising a new scientific discipline classification (https://wiki.egi.eu/wiki/VT_Scientific_Discipline_Classification_Classification)
each virtual organisation (VO) will be associated to one or more scientific disciplines (static association)

Evolution of Scientific Publications Metadata

Publishers are evolving their metadata structure to track funding/sponsorship of research. Examples are:

  1. Funding field: e.g.: http://www.plosone.org/article/info%3Adoi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0062944
  2. Acknowledgment field: e.g.: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3550521/

Statements

This section collects the acknowledgement statements that have been used by EC projects and EGI Virtual Organisations in scientific publications. They can be used to create rules to mine publications and link them to EGI.
