  • Status: planned
  • Start Date: 01/05/2013

Motivation

During 2012, the Scientific Publications Repository Virtual Team identified a number of recommendations to improve the sharing, use and re-use of scientific publications that are possible thanks to EGI . These recommendations have been endorsed by the EGI Council and need now to be implemented. This virtual team project is the follow-up to the previous policy-oriented project to accelerate the implementation of three out of six recommendations by providing dedicated effort:

  • Recommendation 1: Provide a central tool to collect the scientific publications produced using EGI
  • Recommendation 3: The collection of scientific publications should include at least peer reviewed publications (e.g., articles in scientific journals or conference proceedings) and PhD/MSc thesis
  • Recommendation 5: Inform researchers/EGI users

Output

The expected output of this project is:

  • A production-quality scientific publications repository based on the OpenAIRE infrastructure and services that meet the needs of NGIs
  • Ingestion of Scientific Publications from participating NGIs for 2011 and 2012 (other NGIs can contribute on a best effort basis)
  • Communication plan and campaign to inform the EGI community about the new services
  • Identification of collaboration areas with the OpenAIRE community for possible EC-project proposals in Horizon 2020 in the area of Open Access and Open Data policies implementation
