Minutes

SA introduced the goal of the group as to run a pilot to understand how EGI can offer federated digital repositories for open research data. This is to support the implementation of the open access policy, open research data pilot in H2020 and offer the research communities a service to publish open research data, and making it discoverable, shareable, and re-usable.

Interest in the activity: JJ: interest in AAI, STFC as service provider for hosting open research data, liaison with EUDAT, interest in EGI Federated Cloud activities; STFC already has a data repository for synchrotron (diamond light source, DLS, www.diamond.ac.uk) and neutron communities (ISIS, www.isis.stfc.ac.uk), these two projects are supported by PANDATA EC project; they want to make data discoverable; also climate data avaiable; JJ reported that within EUDAT, Shiraz has been investigating integration of SAML or grid proxy authentication to Invenio

DA: David is in charge of storage department in CESNET, 22PB of raw capacity, offer access to files with file system abstraction (globusonline to move data in/out, …), no file catalogue at the moment, offered also synchronisation of files, cloud services; Communities: no topical data, very heterogeneous dataset from various communities; very interested in this project;

IC: involved in LifeWatch project, CMS project, have new hardware and plan to install Invenio after Easter;

Software tools:

The pilot is likely to run with Invenio

Leadership in this activity: JJ will ask to a colleague if he is available to lead the activity

Actions:

  • JJ to check with colleague about availability to lead this work
  • SA circulate the notes from Tim Smith on Invenio
  • SA develop an initial work plan
  • SA: create wiki section for this activity
