Back to Troubleshooting Guide

lcg_cr: Invalid argument

Diagnosis

  1. an invalid hostname was supplied to the -d option (by default $VO_<VO>_DEFAULT_SE will be taken)
  2. the given SE does not support the user's VO
  3. environment variable LCG_GFAL_INFOSYS is not defined correctly (such that the destination host is not known as an SE)
  4. environment variable LCG_GFAL_INFOSYS is defined correctly, but the destination SE is not present in that BDII (e.g. due to configuration error, or the SE being unreachable)
  5. the SE is present in the BDII, but some of its information is absent or wrong (usually a detailed error message is given in such cases)
  6. some other internal error occurred (such cases are rare nowadays)

Solution

  1. check the SE that was supplied (or implied via $VO_<VO>_DEFAULT_SE)
  2. check the definition of LCG_GFAL_INFOSYS
  3. check if the given SE appears correctly in that BDII (compare its records with those of an SE that works)
