"Since this image is persistent, it will be automatically overwritten in the image repository once I shut down the virtual machine."

Does this imply that I can only ever run a single instance from persistent images? Otherwise, I'm wondering what happens with changes to multiple instances and how they would be stored. This setup seems to be rather specific to me. OpenStack solves this by offering snapshots of running instances, which will then become new images to start new instances from (as usual, multiple instances per image).
