In the table below, you should provide your self-assessment for the EGI-InSPIRE "NGI International Tasks" for milestone MS124 "NGI International Tasks Review"
For more information on how to complete the tables, read the dedicated Instructions Page
Notes:
- This milestone is an assessment of services from a managerial perspective and should be reported as an evaluation of the services (e.g. objectives being met; resources to effort; issues; suggested strategic changes).
- 'DO NOT' report what your NGI did for those tasks/services as this is covered by the Quarterly Reports.
- In order to edit this page, you need to log in with your EGI SSO account and click 'edit' on the tab (top of this page).
Community Engagement
EGI-InSPIRE Task | Task Name | Assessment | Score | How to Improve | After EGI-InSPIRE** |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
*NA2U.2E | Marketing |
The website and the communications channel (wikis, twitter etc..) improved a lot. The EGI Champion scheme could also help, but it's too early for an assessment. | 4 | Make more visible the activities of the Champions and marketing activities within the NGIs through dedicated newsletter similar to the one used for NILs communication, but dedicated to marketing. | |
NA2.1N | NGI International Liaison |
The NIL is a good concept and is importand to improve the knowledge sharing and the building of the "social network" EGI needs. VTs are also an imprtant activity for the same objectives. | 4 | NILs should meet more often that just at the Forums. Maybe a good timing is every quarter after having filled the quarterly report, so that main NGI activities can be reported to the others and cross-chekced with the information entered in the CRM and AppDB. Concerning the VTs maybe we should start a phase of more technical, now most of them where focused on community building a requirements definition. | This activity is important to be continued after InSPIRE |
NA2.6N | Distributed Competency Centre |
This is an important activity and we think that many communities in Italy had benifit from it. Dedicated consultancy is more effective than general purpose training but need a lot of effort. | 4 | Effort to this activity should be increased | This activity is important to be continued after InSPIRE |
*Please provide your external assessment on the quality of the service, which is delivered as a Global Task (scores and feedback will be included as part of MS123 - Global Task Review).
**Please comment on the continuation or service impact at the end of EC funding regarding the EGI-InSPIRE task/service.
Operations
EGI-InSPIRE Task | Task Name | Assessment | Score | How to Improve | After EGI-InSPIRE** |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
SA1.1N | NGI Activity Management | Regular meetings and workshop are effective and useful to coordinate the overall activity across the NGIs | 5 | This activity is very important to be continued after InSPIRE in order to maintain a distributed E-infrastructure | |
SA1.2N | A Secure Infrastructure | Very valuables work in particular concerning the security monitoring and the support to the sites in case of security incident. | 4 | The security alerts and vulnerabilities assessment should be a little bit improved. | This activity is very important to be continued after InSPIRE in order to maintain a distributed E-infrastructure |
SA1.3N | Service Deployment | Staged rollout is a very important process and a real added value for EGI Communities. | 4 | Faster rollout, more early adopters. | The coordination of the SR should be continued after InSPIRE in order to maintain a distributed E-infrastructure |
SA1.4N | Infrastructure for Grid Management | Lots of core Grid services are provided in a reliable infrastructure | 4 | automate the provisioning of core Grid service using a IaaS infrastructure. Better distribution of core services in order to optimize the management effort | It is important to assess the number of core services needed in the whole infrastructure in order to optimize the management effort and minimize the costs. |
SA1.5N | Accounting | sites started to publish UserDNs; there are some lacks about storage and cloud metrics | 3 | adding new metrics (cloud, network, storage). Web portal improved, but still not so user friendly | Central accounting is very important in order to maintain a distributed E-infrastructure |
SA1.6N | Helpdesk Infrastructure | The architecture of the helpdesk infrastructure based on a central instance (GGUS) and regional (and often completed independent) instances is very good. | 5 | At least the central support instance (GGUS) is needed in order to efficiently support the overall infrastructure. | |
SA1.7N | Support Teams | The support is overall good, support people are regularly trained, good documentation available | 5 | The distributed support model is very important for the whole infrastructure. Non HEP VOs will face major problems. | |
SA1.8N | Providing a Reliable Grid Infrastructure | sites availability is monitored and their performance are very good | 4 | Users are not aware of failing instances (instances were SAM test are failing). Information about these failure should be available to the users | This activity is very important to be continued after InSPIRE in order to maintain a distributed E-infrastructure |
**Please comment on the continuation or service impact at the end of EC funding regarding the EGI-InSPIRE task/service. If you have no information you can leave this column blank.
