Main page with instructions. In this page, you can provide your assessments for the EGI Global Tasks (MS115) and your self-assessment for the NGI International Tasks (MS116).

Notes:

  • Both milestones are an assessment of services from a managerial perspective'and should be reported as an evaluation of the services -do 'not report what your NGI did for those tasks/services as this is covered by the Quarterly Reports.
  • MS115: External assessments of NA2.2 EGI Dissemination and Marketing as a global task.
  • MS116: Self-assessment of NGI International Tasks, required for tasks where your NGI has effort. (The operations part is covered through a survey linked at the bottom of this page).

The content will be used for the following documents:

Global Tasks (MS115)

In this box, please provide your external assessment on the quality of the following tasks:

EGI-InSPIRE Name Assessment Score How to Improve
NA2.2E Dissemination (May 2011 - Oct 2011)
Marketing and Communication (since Nov 2011)
Marketing and communication during the first 1.5 years of the project had to be improved (as reported also by the EC reviewers). Interactions with other European big projects (ICT-related) had to be strengthened at higher/political levels and/or communication on those interactions had to be improved towards NGIs. Coordination effort to share information on dissemination initiatives of the NGIs had to be improved, the appdb and training marketplace alone are not enough. The restructuring of the project and the new NILs and VTs activities go on the right directions, but it is too early to evaluate correctly the outcome, anyway improvements are already perceived. 2 for the first period, 3 since Nov2011 Lobbing effort by the EGI.eu management with the management of other European projects (i.e ESFRI) should be strengthened. A collaboration plan should be agreed at higher level and then actuated involving NGIs.

Participation with booth and presentation of success stories to events (i.e big meetings, conferences and assembly) organised by different scientific communities should be increased. We should not only invite communities at EGI events.

NGI International Tasks (MS116)

In this box, please provide your self-assessment on the quality of the following tasks.

External Relations

Table 4: NGI Assessment: May 2011 - Oct 2011
EGI-InSPIRE Name Assessment Score How to Improve
NA2.2N Dissemination almost no effort for NGI_IT in this task - difficult to evaluate - NGIs probably need help in negotiations with companies for licensed products accessed via Grid. A group or VT for exchanging experiences on this is advisable.
NA2.3N Policy Development As stated for the global task this activity had to be improved also at the national level 3 Participation with booth and presentation of success stories to events (i.e big meetings, conferences and assembly) organised by different scientific communities should be increased.

Very focused training events, with few interested people should be preferred to general purpose Grid School. Rewarding mechanism to communities people that help to "evangelise" the EGI usage reporting success stories could be put in place. Very close and customised consultancy for application porting should be given to interested communities.

User Services

Table 4: NGI Assessment: May 2011 - Oct 2011
EGI-InSPIRE Name Assessment Score How to Improve
NA3.3N Requirements Gathering A good process has been set up based on RT on the EGI.eu side and NGI_IT collects requirements periodically populating the RT dedicated queue. 5 the system works fine on the EGI side
NA3.3N Application Database Appdb improved in the considered period. More aggregation options advised. Duplication of applications and publications sometimes is an issue 3 Aggregation per institution of ported apps and publications stored in the db could be useful

Write APIs wll be useful to synchronise regional instances A way non to replicate very similar application with slightly different names should be implemented

NA3.3N Training Marketplace your assessment here 4 ordering by rate should be available
NA3.3N Consultancy Given the limited effort a good job was done. Need more people and more "tailored on customer" consultancy 3 Very close and customised consultancy for application porting should be given to interested communities. More people are needed for this activity
