Virtual Organisation		A grouping of users and optionally resources, often not bound to a single institution, who, by reason of their common membership and in sharing a common goal, are given authority to use a set of resources			Draft	SPG
VO AUP		The policy document describing the goals of the VO thereby defining the expected and acceptable use of the Grid by the users of the VO			Draft	SPG
VO Manager		An individual responsible for the membership registry of the VO including its accuracy and integrity.			Draft	SPG
VO Membership Service		The operational interface to the VO membership registry			Draft	SPG
VO Resource Manager		A named individual within a VO with authority to inspect resource usage at the individual VO user level			Draft	SPG
Web user		A human individual that accesses Grid resources through a Portal			Draft	SPG
(UMD) Capability		A Capability is scoped around well known and well-defined activities that are sufficiently disparate, independent, and fulfill a discrete task in a higher-level orchestrated sequence of actions taken by the user (manually or automated) in order to reach the aspired goal. Capabilities may depend on the presence of another Capability. Appliances, however, SHOULD NOT depend on each other to avoid technical dependencies and vendor lock-in - TCB A Capability is an activity needed by either the end-user (functional capability) or operations community (non-functional capability) that is defined and delivered by one or more Interfaces that may be supported by one or more technology providers [D5.1]. Appliance		An Appliance is the technical implementation of a Capability. An Appliance may be delivered in a single, monolithic Package, or it may be delivered as a set of components that are grouped into a set of Packages. In the latter case all packages must be installed to provide the complete Appliance.			Draft	TCB
Package		A Package is a structured software unit suitable for automated installation on a computer. A Package may specify dependencies on other packages, so that either a specific version of that package, or a minimum version of that package may satisfy that dependency.			Draft	TCB
Product		A Product is a solution delivered by Technology Providers to EGI and provides the functionality for one, sometimes more Capabilities as one single, undividable unit. Consequently, a Product may comprise of one or more Appliances.			Draft	TCB
Primary Package		A Product consists of a well-defined set of specific packages, each in a specific version. Different versions (whether major, minor, or revision) of the same Product may share a subset of packages of the same version, that do not change between the compared versions.			Draft	TCB
Secondary Package		A Secondary Package is a Package that is resolved from dependency declarations within a Package, that sources either from the Technology Provider's own Repository, or from any additional repository except OS distribution repositories. (Note: EPEL is an example of such a repository that is not an OS repository.)			Draft	TCB
Resource Centre ( Site)	RC	The Resource Centre – also known as Site – is the smallest resource administration domain in EGI. It can be either localised or geographically distributed. It provides local resources and the functional capabilities [UMD] necessary to make those resources securely accessible to end-users. Certified Resource Centre		A Certified Resource Centre is a Resource Centre that conforms to the requirements specified in the Resource Centre Registration and Certification Procedure.			Draft	PDT and OMB
Resource Centre Operations Manager		The Resource Centre Operations Manager leads the Resource Centre operations, and is the official technical contact person in the connected organisation. He/she is locally supported by a team of Resource Centre administrators. The Resource Centre Operations Manager is responsible for the enforcement of the Resource Centre OLA, the EGI policies and procedures by the Resource Centre. <o:p></o:p>		Term is part of the Operations Architecture. Resource Infrastructure Provider	RIP	Resource Infrastructure Provider is the legal organisation responsible for any matter that concerns the respective Resource Infrastructure. It provides, manages and operates (directly or indirectly) all the operational services required to an agreed level of quality as required by the Resource Centres and the user community. It holds the responsibility of integrating these operational services into EGI in order to enable uniform resource access and sharing for the benefit of their end-users. The Resource Infrastructure Provider liaises locally with the Resource Centre Operations Managers, and represents the Resource Centres at an international level. Examples of a Resource Infrastructure Provider are the European Intergovernmental Research Institutes (EIRO) and the National Grid Initiatives (NGIs).		Term is part of the Operations Architecture. Operations Centre	TBD	The Operations Centre offers operations services on behalf of the Resource Infrastructure Provider. The operations services are delivered locally in collaboration with the relevant Resource Centres at a local level, and globally with EGI.eu. Unified Middleware Distribution	UMD	The Unified Middleware Distribution (UMD) is the integrated set of software components that EGI makes available from technology providers within the EGI Community. UMD-compliant Middleware		UMD-compliant Middleware is the software that provides one of more UMD capabilities, and successfully interoperates with UMD by complying with the UMD supported interfaces specified in the UMD Roadmap [UMD]. National Grid Infrastructure	NGI	National Grid Infrastructures are legal organizations that (a) have a mandate to represent their national Grid community in all matters falling within the scope of EGI.eu, and (b) are the only organization having the mandate described in (a) for its country and thus provide a single contact point at the national level. Virtual Organisation	VO	A Virtual Organisation (VO) is a grouping of users and (optionally) resources, often not bound to a single institution, which, by reason of their common membership and in sharing a common goal, are given authority to use a set of resources  - OMB  VO is a group of people (e.g. scientists, application developers) with common interests and requirements, which need to work collaboratively with other members of their collaboration and/or share resources (e.g. data, software, expertise, CPU, storage space) regardless of geographical location. Virtual Research Community	VRC	A VRC is a group of large-scale scientific research collaborations, either covering multiple VOs or simply belong are part of a larger domain area. The VRC model allows a community to have bi-directional interactions through defined points of contact with EGI across broader domain areas.			Draft	PDT
Memorandum of Understanding	MoU	A written agreement that clarifies the relationships, responsibilities and communication channels between two or more parties that may share services, clients, and resources.			Draft
Operational Level Agreement	OLA	An Agreement between an IT Service Provider and another part of the same Organization. An OLA supports the IT Service Provider’s delivery of IT Services to Customers.
