Short Description

BILS (Bioinformatics Infrastructure for Life Sciences) is a distributed national research infrastructure supported by the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) providing bioinformatics support to life science researchers in Sweden. BILS is also the Swedish node in the European infrastructure for biological information ELIXIR.

BILS would like to evaluate the EGI Federated Cloud since they prefer to use a cloud infrastructure instead to buy proprietary resources. BILS is willing to rewrite its current services to scale up compute in EGI Federated cloud and so exploiting the Cloud Elasticity.

PConsC2 is a service for protein structure prediction. Currently, several tools are using PConsC2 service. This run currently in KTH cloud (EGI Federated Cloud member) through its proprietary interface. Instead of use only KTH, BILS would like to use the EGI Federated Cloud interface and, therefore, exploit resources also of other FedCloud sites. PConsC2 needs several hundred cores (see this slides for details).

Use Case

Deploy PConsC2 on the EGI Federated Cloud
