The goal of this page is to support the collaborative effort of robot certificate owners and EGI.eu to gather statistical information about those who access EGI infrastructure services with robot certificates. Obtaining the number of European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) users is quite a challenge due to the federated, distributed nature of the infrastructure and its user communities. A growing number of users access EGI resources through robot certificates instead of personal certificates. These users are not necessarily registered in VOMS services and thus are not accountable by the Operations Portal. This page is a collaborative effort between the robot certificate owners and EGI.eu to gather statistical information about those who access EGI infrastructure services with robot certificates. Such information is vital to build a complete picture about the robot service usage across different communities and to support the planning of infrastructure and human resource distribution.

The following table stores relevant information about these users, namely to which community they belong too. If the reported numbers are significant, a mechanism to feed these values into the Operations Portal will be put in place, such that the official statistics reported per Virtual Organization are a better description of the corresponding community size.

Introduction

Obtaining the number of European Grid Infrastructure (EGI) users is quite a challenge due to the federated, distributed nature of the infrastructure and its user communities. A growing number of users access EGI resources through robot certificates instead of personal certificates. These users are not necessarily registered in VOMS services and thus are not accountable by the Operations Portal. This page is a collaborative effort between the robot certificate owners and EGI.eu to gather statistical information about those who access EGI infrastructure services with robot certificates. Such information is vital to build a complete picture about the robot service usage across different communities and to support the planning of infrastructure and human resource distribution.

Robot users without certificate

There is no automatic way of collecting the number of users making use of robot certificates. The data was provided by the owners of robots in operation in the EGI infrastructure. The data was further processed by EGI.eu Technical Outreach to New Communities team. The goal is to identify EGI users which do not have a personal certificate. The following table stores relevant information about these users, namely to which community they belong too. If the reported numbers are significant, a mechanism to feed these values into the Operations Portal will be put in place, such that the official statistics reported per Virtual Organization are a better description of the corresponding community size.
