2. ACTIVITY REPORT

2.1. User Support achievements

The NGI_SK provided the expertise and continued support for current grid users in the process of developing and running their applications on HPC cluster and Grid infrastructure. Particularly, our activities encompassed mostly the support in running complex simulations of fire using FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator), and simulations of electric circuits. The main focus was imposed on executing a series of FDS simulations on the HPC cluster in interrupted mode with checkpointing, in order to investigate the deviation of the results compared with results obtained by running FDS simulations in normal continual way. In addition, we followed constantly the latest technical developments made in EMI middleware which concern the execution of parallel jobs.

2.2. Plans

The NGI_SK will keep on with the support of existing grid users in the improvement their applications and running tools, and new users will be assisted at the whole process of the development and running their applications on the cluster and Grid.

2.3. Issues and mitigation
