Technical clarifications for the installation of the Shibbolet application on the SITAR  platform .
'''Activities description:'''
SITAR is running on APACHE server and it’s based on a POSTGRESQL and Map Guide OS 2.5. All the users of SITAR  (today are 250) are centrally generated and each user  has particular permission. For the PoC the Superintendence has to establish a clear policy for user authentication.
GARR will provide a close support for the installation of the SHIBBOLET service provider, giving technical documentation, best practices and a virtual support to the computer developer. The software implementation will be done on a test environment. Once SITAR is accessible in the Federation, the users that are already registered in the Federation – like ICCU, for example - might access the database with their credentials ; anyway the access to SITAR will be also in the traditional way:  the SITAR platform will be enriched by the Federated Authentication.

'''Introduction:'''
The scenario of the PoC  is to test the participation in the Federation of Authentication and Authorization Infrastructures  of ICCU and the Special Superintendence of Rome (SSBAR), that participates into ARIADNE project.
We’re evaluating the possibility to provide a Federated access to the SITAR database, that is the Archaeological Territorial Informative System of Rome managed by the Superintendence .
In the PoC we also have the opportunity to transfer and store  data from SITAR to the Culture Science Gateway (eCSG) through the Identity Federation.
SITAR is the Archaeological Territorial Informative System of Rome, launched in 2007 and managed by the Soprintendenza Speciale per i Beni Archeologici di Roma (SSBAR) with the aim to build and maintain the archaeological cadastre of metropolitan territory. The system is based on a GIS technology that manages diverse types of data sets, ranging from large monumental contests to single archaeological features found in rescue excavations, deriving from the entirety of salvage or planned investigations carried out in the territory of the Cities of Rome and Fiumicino. SITAR permits only certain users to access, process data and the Superintendence applies  varying limitations on users' access or actions and it grants privileges to users  (or group of users) so these users can accomplish tasks required for their jobs.
'''Activities description:'''
ICCU and the Superintendence are becoming member of IDEM (federated IDEntity Management for service access) that is the Italian Identity Federation of universities and research institutes for authentication and authorization. The IDEM GARR AAI Service provides ICCU and the Superintendence with information and technical assistance at every step of the process.
The IDP of ICCU it’s almost ready; the one of the Superintendence is coming soon.
In order to access of SITAR database in the Federation of Authentication and Authorization Infrastructures , the Superintendence must evaluate technical procedures and implementation of the application in the SITAR platform. This issue will be discussed in a next virtual meeting with GARR on the 28th of March.
Once  the Superintendence’s IDP is registered in the Federation we will execute the transfer of data of SITAR to eCSG via Identity Federation: this is a kind of repetition of the PoC with Magazzini Digitali, so we want to reflect inside the WP5 if it’s necessary or not.
'''Action items:'''
*GARR  supports ICCU and SSBAR for the creation of their IDP in the Federation.
*SSBAR send to INFN the SITAR data model in order to  create the interface for the ingestion of SITAR dataset in eCSG.
*SSBAR do a technical assessment for implementing in SITAR platform the application of SHIBBOLETH, that is necessary for giving a Federated access to the database
*SSBAR, supported by GARR, will implement the application for accessing SITAR in the Federation taking into account different profiled users.
*If necessary, SSBAR will send the metadata schema to INFN and INFN will create an interface for uploading SITAR dataset in e-CSG.
*The PoC will be concluded by the 9th of June.
