NGI International Tasks (MS116)
In this box, please provide your self-assessment on the quality of the following tasks.
External Relations
EGI-InSPIRE | Name | Assessment | Score | How to Improve |
---|---|---|---|---|
NA2.2N | Dissemination | NGI_AEGIS is focused on dissemination and liaison at the regional and national level, and provides EGI representation at local and some of the regional events. Our dissemination activities: publicizing local success stories in media, creating materials for various audiences (from politicians to scientists), writing up success stories, pointing potential users in the right direction, etc. are regularly reported in quarterly report, and this kind of communication between NGI_AEGIS and EGI.eu is well established. | 5 | Gather upcoming dissemination events at one place. This could be a portal similar to the "Training Marketplace" that is used for training purposes. |
NA2.3N | Policy Development | NGI_AEGIS is actively working and lobbying for establishing a national funding programme for research infrastructures that should also include funding of Grid computing activities. We are establishing agreements with Resource centers, and implementing EGI policies and procedures, as well as developing EGI policies and procedures by participation in EGI policy groups, so at this level communication link between NGI_AEGIS and with EGI.eu is well established. | 5 | Implementation of the national funding programme. |
User Services
EGI-InSPIRE | Name | Assessment | Score | How to Improve |
---|---|---|---|---|
NA3.3N | Requirements Gathering | NGI_AEGIS user support team collects requirements, and if they could not be satisfied at the NGI level, they are communicated to EGI.eu through surveys. We have good communication with EGI.eu at this level. | 5 | |
NA3.3N | Application Database | Within NGI_AEGIS, AppDB portal is mainly used for advertising of applications developed and gridified by national Grid experts, but also as an excellent place that keep up with the latest tools and applications available for Grids. The portal made progress since the beginning of the project and it improved functionality. However, it contains general information only, so details have to be found at external web sites or in direct contact with developers. | 4 | Applications information are not regularly updated, and in some cases link to the application home page doesn't work. Some checks and reviews have to be implemented.
The portal contains wide range of applications, from gigantic frameworks (such as ATLAS software, CMS software) to simple scripts that do job submission of an external well known code. If possible, some kind of categorization of applications could be implemented. |
NA3.3N | Training Marketplace | The training marketplace is not quite up-to-date, since currently only 3 events are advertised, but certainly there will be much more in the near future. The training material is quite old and outdated, while the search functionality is poor (usually ends with "your search yielded no results"). Links to presentations are frequently broken. | 3 | Improve search functionality, and include search of the content of training material. Stimulate partners to more actively publish and advertise information on their trainings. |
NA3.3N | Consultancy | Not too many customers. NGI_AEGIS grid expertise is disseminated through training events, and in direct support to users. To increase visibility of the expertise, nationally training events are regularly announced at the Training Marketplace. | 3 |
