The Finnish NGI promoted the national grid infrastructure by having a tour called “FGI Road Show”. During this tour the grid experts of CSC visited in seven university campuses around Finland. All the events included a seminar session where the Finnish grid services were introduced for the audience. The seminar was followed by a hands on session during which the FGI experts of CSC helped the customers to test FGI grid environment and solve FGI related practical problems ( e.g. obtaining certificates and installing the ARC middleware). In total about 100 potential new grid users participated to the events. The promotion tour together with other outreach activities has increased the size of the fgi.csc.fi VO up to 134 members.
Other user support activities: - The documentation of the national grid environment was improved by updating the FGI user pages (https://fgi.csc.fj) and the FGI user manual ( https://confluence.csc.fi/download/attachments/10782989/FGI_guide_7.9.2012.pdf).
- Several new Runtime Environments are added and documented to the FGI grid environment ( Including e.g. The Matlab compiler runtime environment).
- An article, describing the ARC middleware based grid interface of BWA was published in EMBnet journal Volume 18.1 (https://journal.embnet.org).
- FGI Demonstration Virtual Machine was created to facilitate Windows users to the access FGI grid environment.
