===2.1. User Support achievements===

The NGI_SK provided the continued support for the users in the process of developing, upgrading and running their applications on the HPC cluster and EGI infrastructure. Particularly, our activities were concerned with the support of weather forecasting simulations realized on our local HPC cluster and also on the EGI infrastructure through the newest version (3.5) of the WRF (Weather Research and Forecasting) application and several software tools provided for pre-processing input data and post-processing output results. The main focus was imposed on running parallel MPI models using the MPI-Start software and data transfer operations between separate components of the simulation process.
The NGI_SK provided the continued support for current and new users in the process of developing, upgrading and running their applications on the HPC cluster and EGI infrastructure. Particularly, our activities were concentrated on porting and running the newest version (6.0.1) of FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator) application, where the main focus was imposed on running parallel MPI models. We followed constantly the latest technical developments made in EMI middleware concerning this issue. With the view of comparing the efficiency of the FDS running it was ported also on the supercomputer IBM Power 775.

===2.2. Plans===
The NGI_SK will go on with the assistance of existing grid users and new scientific communities in the development and improvement their applications and running tools. Particularly we intend to support the use of the modeling and simulation in the advancement of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
===2.1. User Support achievements===

The NGI_SK provided the expertise and continued support for current grid users in the process of developing and running their applications on HPC cluster and Grid infrastructure. Particularly, our activities encompassed mostly the support in running complex simulations of fire using FDS (Fire Dynamics Simulator), and simulations of electric circuits. The main focus was imposed on executing a series of FDS simulations on the HPC cluster in interrupted mode with checkpointing, in order to investigate the deviation of the results compared with results obtained by running FDS simulations in normal continual way. In addition, we followed constantly the latest technical developments made in EMI middleware which concern the execution of parallel jobs.

===2.2. Plans===
The NGI_SK will keep on with the support of existing grid users in the improvement their applications and running tools, and new users will be assisted at the whole process of the development and running their applications on the cluster and Grid.

This report covers support activities to existing user communities, and belongs to EGI-InSPIRE SA1 (Task SA1.7 - Support Teams). The outreach to new communities activities that NGIs perform under NA2 are gathered through the Virtual Teams. However, there may be outreach activities that do outside of VTs. You can report about these in your 2.2.3 paragraph as well.
